Southrop Church of England Primary School is a Voluntary Controlled school, the Trustees being the Gloucester Diocesan Board of Education.

The Instrument of Government under which the school operates states that:

 "Southrop Church of England Primary School has a Christian Foundation and aims to provide high quality education for all its pupils. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to its pupils."
