Starting School or Transferring from another School

Children normally start school in the September following their fourth birthday. For this school, Gloucestershire County Council are the Admission Authority and applications for a place in the Reception group must be made via them. This link will take you to the appropriate website:

We hold some open days. If you are not able to attend one of these we are able to organise individual tours. If you are thinking of seeking a place for your child at the school, please contact the school office on 01367 850 246 to make an appointment.

If your child has Special Educational Needs and Disabilities our SENDCo will work with you to understand any adaptations that might be necessary to put in place, in order to make the transition into our school as smooth as possible.

For pupils already at school and seeking a place at Southrop, admissions are managed by the school itself. In the first instance you should telephone the school to enquire about vacancies. The school is very popular and as we can only take eight pupils in each year group, there are normally very few spaces. Having spoken to the school, if we may be able to accommodate your child you will be asked to come to meet one of the Co-Head Teachers so that we can fully understand the needs of your child. You are then welcome to make an application on the form downloadable below. As soon as the school receives this application you will be notified in writing as to whether or not a place can be offered. In the event that one cannot be offered you will be given advice about how the In-Year Admissions team at Gloucestershire County Council can help you with either an appeal or to find a place in an alternative school.
