Special Educational Needs Provision.

At Southrop School we have a fully inclusive SEND policy and aim to offer excellence and opportunity to all our children, whatever their ability or needs. We understand that children have different educational, physical and behavioural needs and that they assimilate and communicate information at different rates.  A range of different teaching approaches and experiences is offered within the classroom to make sure that every child has the best chance to reach their full potential. In addition, we are able to offer individual specialist help for any child with specific difficulties and those who need additional support in literacy and numeracy.

Southrop C of E Primary School values the contribution that every child can make and is supported by the Local Authority to ensure that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress. The school seeks to raise the achievement, remove barriers to learning and increase physical and curricular access to all. All children and young people with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) are valued, respected and considered equal members of the school. As such, provision for pupils with SEND is a matter for the school as a whole. All teachers are teachers of pupils with SEND. The Governing Body, Headteacher, SENDCO and all other members of staff are responsible for teaching children with SEND.
