At Southrop C of E Primary School, we recognise that the foundations of all learning—skills, attitudes, and styles—begin in Reception and continue throughout a child’s educational journey.

We focus on providing a continuous provision rooted in real-life experiences, carefully tailored to each child’s individual needs and interests.  Through ongoing assessment, we adapt the learning environment to include both teacher-supported activities and opportunities for purposeful play.

We understand the importance of accommodating different learning styles across EYFS and Key Stage 1.  As children are taught together in the Cygnet classroom, continuous provision and learning through play remain central to our approach for all learners.

We have developed a strong and thoughtful pedagogy for the Cygnets, ensuring that every child is supported, engaged, and inspired to learn.

Our EYFS currciulum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.
