Vision and values

Our School Vision and Values

Those who hope in The Lord will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:31

Courage    Friendship    Forgiveness

Ready   Respectful   Safe

At Southrop Primary School we aim to impart in all our children:

-the hope and ambition to soar ever higher

-the courage to push boundaries &

-the confidence to be bright and bold in all their endeavours.

You will see these soaring wings represented throughout our Church of England school.  Firstly, in our insignia, the Southrop Swan. From humble cygnet to majestic adult, the swan undergoes a metamorphosis that symbolises the beauty of growth and change during our learning journey.  You will see children earn their wings of success. When they have tackled a problem head on, shown courage, or taken a mighty leap of faith, we celebrate as they ‘earn their wings’ - a source of great pride and sense of achievement within our school community.

At Southrop Church of England Primary School children get the opportunity to discover their interests, nurture their God-given talents and allow their ambitions to flourish.  We support them and guide them as they develop the personal identity and character necessary to become the very best version of themselves.

Flowing from our Christian vision and values, we believe that our happiness is intrinsically linked to the happiness of those around us. One of our Christian values is Friendship.  Our commitment is to be a welcoming school community with open hearts, open minds and open arms, where every person is valued in their diversity and uniqueness.  The children are also supported to show Forgiveness.  The school uses Restorative Practice to support the children to choose and use the correct behaviours.

We explore various Christian Values together in our collective worship and we are proud to see our children demonstrate our values every day, both inside our school grounds and outside in our wider community.

We believe wholeheartedly in creating an environment where every child can thrive – Where we are Ready to learn, Respectful of all and Safe to explore.
